Barska 15X70 Binoculars on EBay?
Check this link to see the profile. Anyone with knowledge of binoculars (I am intending to use these for star gazing) are these worth the money? Am I better off with a store bought pair at regular price? I am aware of the risks of buying on Ebay.

Obviously I need to study more before I buy a pair. What is an ideal measurement to look for if I intend to use binoculars for seeing planets, moons, stars and nebulae?

A binocular that size defeats the purpose of having a binocular. First of all, I’ve looked through many Barska optics and have yet to find one that is built well. A good binocular with low (8 or 10x) power will serve you better than a bad one with high power. Resolution is what you’re after, not only magnification.

The high magnification will mean you need to mount this monster on a tripod to use it. Anything above a 10x will not work well when it’s handheld.

EDIT
Binoculars are good for scanning the sky, looking at the moon, but to look at nebulaes or other planets in detail then you need a telescope. Binoculars just doesn’t have enough power or brightness to handle that. I have a 60x spotting scope, even that won’t give a good image of venus.

How far can these binoculars see in km ?

How far can these binoculars magnify that’s the better question? for what purpose would you buy these binoculars? space? military? really far seeing?

12 to 36 power. So it will magnify up to 36 power. Hunting, seeing things at a distance, and birdwatching would be some uses. As for distance, they will enable you to see billions of miles or kilometers. Look at a star cluster for instance.

what do you think of binoculars with no need for any focusing?
i want to buy some binoculars, but it reads “Fast immediate viewing, sample with no need for any focusing”

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Barska-10×50-Focus-Free-Binoculars-Blue-Lens/12396442

would you suggest to buy those?

Must be junk! Any decent pair of binoculars has center focusing.
Set-up:
1. Use the center focus to focus on a object. When in focus go to “2″
2. adjust the eyepiece that rotates to focus that eye. When in focus, then
3. all you have to do when you move to another subject is use the “center-focus” and that’s all!

I went to Walmart’s site and they are awful inexpensive for the claims they are making. But on the other hand bino’s without center focus makes them very expensive. Plus I never heard of this brand.

how is 20-140×80 barska binocular?
how is 20-140×80 barska binocular?

zoom is bad news.

the magnification numbers don’t look right. did you type them correctly?

80mm binoculars are going to be too heavy to hand hold.

im looking at the 10×42 black for those

Of those two, I would suggest they would be about equal in the short term but the Bushnells will last longer. I like the longer eye relief and larger eye cups as opposed to the fold out rubber ones of the Barska. I think the Bushies are worth the extra few bucks.
